Buying a House In Santa Fe? Winter Can Be Hot.

In Santa Fe, the real estate market, like the weather, cools in winter. But that can be a good thing for buyers. Here are a few reasons.

  1. With fewer house hunters, there is less competition. For buyers, that translates into more flexibility in time and negotiations.

  2. Cold weather gives you a better idea of how a prospective home endures winter wear and tear. When you look at a new property, walk around and see how the heating system works and feels. Also, consider how snow and ice might affect your winter commute.

  3. Sellers can experience seasonal affective disorder, making them more willing to get a deal done.

  4. Other services, like moving companies, often have more availability in the winter—before their schedules jam up in spring and summer.
